The ENE Economusee Northern Europe project Jobs for the young in the rural areas of Northern Europe The Economusee network in the regions of the North Atlantic
There was an early induction to the concept of economusee for the project partners arranged at Laval University in April 2008. Then the search for candidate artisan companies started inn all partner regions based on a set of agreed selection criteria. The companies have to use a traditional technique or know-how to craft their products of recognised quality and also be able and interested to innovate in their own production. The project aim is to create 18 new artisan économusées in Northern Europe. The international PSG-Project Steering Group – decides which candidate companies that will go through detailed feasibility studies, before being transformed into operational economusees. There are artisan companies being analysed and evaluated to become economuseums in all the regions and countries involved in the Economuseum Northern Europe project.
The project has also developed a special tool to support the new economuseums, the Business Support Manual which conatins all the information the artisan needs for not only to become an economuseum but also about how to improve their businesses, economic turnover and net income for the future. See more about the business manual – introduction to the concept and content page The european network is starting to take shape and the artisan involvement is growing in numbers, crafts and potential as well as good results. We believe the project will capture peoples imagination, confirm their belief in quality and prove the value of skills in crafts, and it does it all by products that people can touch and hold in their hands, take home, talk about and treasure. As they do, they help preserve the best parts of their heritage and perhaps best of all, create local employment for young people by supporting a heritage that earns its own keep. |
